June 23, 2024Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during my first visit of sedation/ GA consultation?
Our specialist periodontist or attending general dentist will first get to know you and understand your concerns and expectations. They will then perform a detailed assessment and examination. They might need to take focused and current xray(s) to better plan. They will then discuss with you about the techniques of proposed treatments and costs. You are able to ask them the doubts and questions you might have. We are able to keep these visits short if you are very anxious.
Where will the procedure be done?
The procedure will be done in Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur with Dr. Philip Han or Pantai Hospital Melaka with Dr. Dharmindra Rajah.
Do I need to stay in the hospital?
In most situations, the procedures can be done under the daycare method which means that you will be able to leave the hospital by afternoon if the procedure was done in the morning. Admission may be necessary if there are compromising medical conditions which require further attention from medical colleagues.
Why can’t this be done in the clinic setting?
The sedation and GA is administered by a licensed specialist anaesthetist. Furthermore, the clinic is not equipped with similar safety and resuscitation equipment as in the hospital. It is hence better and safer performed in a hospital setting.
What precautions do I need to take after?
You are advised to have an accompanying individual on the day of the procedure or a designated driver to accompany you home. It is advisable not to sign any important documents, perform any risky tasks (including riding a bicycle) 1-2 days after the procedure.
