What should I expect during my first visit for consultation?
Our dentist will first get to know you and understand your concerns and expectations as different whitening systems yield different results. Our dentist will also discuss the types of whitening systems available and tailor the whitening programme to your needs, desires and budget. If time allows for it, you may be able to have whitening done during the same visit.
What are the types of whitening systems available?
We provide 3 types of whitening systems which can be prescribed individually or as a combination to our patients. Types of whitening systems: Blanc One Click whitening, Comprehensive In-Office whitening, Take home whitening.
How long does it take?
Blanc One Click whitening: Approximately 15 to 30 minutes
Comprehensive In-Office whitening: Approximately 60 to 90 minutes
Take Home whitening: Approximately 15 minutes to take a record of your teeth and jaw. You would need to return to collect the whitening trays on a separate day
What are the complications for whitening?
The most common complication is teeth hypersensitivity which can last from 3 to 24 hours after whitening. Our dentist will apply a desensitising paste onto your teeth to control the sensitivity. There can also be gum irritation: redness, tenderness or discomfort felt on the gum. Our dentist may apply a gum barrier to reduce this complication.
What precautions do I need to take after?
To ensure optimal results, it is recommended to avoid staining food and drinks for 1 to 2 weeks after whitening. Maintaining good oral hygiene practices at home by brushing and flossing will maintain the results and overall dental health. Please refrain from smoking or using tobacco products, as these will quickly undo the whitening results and contribute to stainings on the teeth.
Can I be resistant to whitening?
Some individuals naturally have a greyish tint in their teeth shade which is more resistant to whitening and might require other types of aesthetic treatment. Teeth that have heavy fillings and crowns do not whiten also with these products. Our dentist will identify these and inform you beforehand if you might be resistant to whitening.
