What should I expect during my first consultation visit?
Our dentists and specialist will first get to know you and understand your concerns and expectations. They will then perform a detailed assessment and examination. They will need to take focused and current xray(s) to better plan. They will then discuss with you about the techniques of proposed treatments and costs. You are able to ask them the doubts and questions you might have. If suitable, they will take an intra-oral digital scan for nightguard or sportsguard fabrication.
Are the guards customised to my jaws?
Yes, the digital moulds of your jaws and bite registration ensure that the guards fit ideally on your jaw(s) and also when your jaws meet, the bite is ideal.
How often do I need to change my guards?
It is time to change the guards when they have been gnawed through. In most situations, even if they have not been, we advise to have them changed every 2-3 years for hygiene purposes.
Do I have an option to aesthetically customise my guards?
Yes, you can choose from the wide range of colors available. We can also help to include in a design or artwork of your choice within the limits of feasibility and also for an extra cost.
What else can I do?
If the symptoms arising from the bruxism do not alleviate fully, we recommend also seeing a chiropractor to rule out other causes. In situations of chronic pain, BOTOX has been shown to alleviate symptoms too but should be administered by a licensed and experienced medical physician.
